On to new business. A question for everyone. How does everyone feel to opening up the comm to Het Lemons and making it a Detective Conan general Adult comm?

You already know my opinion (I think I've stated it twice now), but put me down as yes anyway.

This way, those of us who write both het and yaoi in the same story (*points to Illusionist's Ball*) don't have flip outs about what goes where and people don't miss chapters/stories from their favorite artists.

More seriously? I would be the last one to mind. As long we've good stories, it doesn't matter much if it's yaoi or not, and from a naughty perspetive, I would always love to see woman doing something in smut. X3 XD;

But well, in this case, it would be necessary to change the name of the comm, no?

Well, I originally joined dc_yaoi for the yaoi and yuri - and to escape the gazillions of fics with the holy trinity pairings, which is why I never added manycases1truth to my friendlist. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against adult het at all, but wouldn't it be wiser to create a new community for adult fics including het?
- First because there won't be a name issue (het fans noticing a comm named "dc_yaoi likely won't know het is a okay as well),
- second because yaoi/yuri =/= necessarily lemon unless you go by the old-fashioned definition, so why should only adult het be allowed next to possible boyxboy/girlxgirl waff, that's imho not fair to people posting het
- third, I know most active people here seem to at least like the "traditional" het pairings as well, but maybe there are others who prefer yaoi (and sadly more rarely yuri) to het and joined this comm to have their own little island in an otherwise clearly het-dominated fandom.

Anyway, those are just my two cents and if the majority is okay with this, I won't complain of course.;)

I don't know if this might be a good opportunity to create a poll with a few options to choose from? A lot of members are always too shy to raise their opinions, especially when the majority in the comments only say "Go for it", while polls seems to magically attract lurkers as well...>_>

Hey. I just wanted to say I totally agree with you. Especially on that last point. I was reading this thinking I was the only one not absolutely for it until I got to your comment, and feeling decidedly shy about speaking up. So many, many thanks from this lurker. ^^;

I'll admit I'm a little curious what your obscure fave pairings are now. I enjoy Heiji/Ran, myself, but fat chance actually finding stuff for them.

Try finding a het author willing to take request, a lot of dcmk authours do when bored, especially those that write odd or unusual pairings anyway.

Actually, you've raised a valid objection, indeedly, maybe it would be better to makes a new comm for adult het, and, our old desillusionnal dream, another one for non-canon het (CxA/SxS not included since you've already place for this one)?

Were I still more involved in DC fandom, I'd totally support the creation of a rare pairings comm (for het, yaoi and yuri)!:D But alas, I wouldn't be able to contribute a lot (unless we accept non-english fics as well, german/french fics don't get much love on lj after all XD)

Sorrowfully, it's the same for me, and yes, if we're creating a german/french comm, I don't think that we would get many readers.^^;

I wouldn't blame you...To be honest, it's been a while since the last times I've read stuff from my two favorite yaoi writers, and they haven't stopped to write, on the contrary.^^;

Hm... if it's not the Het that you're arguing, but the mainstay pairings, what about a bit of a compromise? Since a large part of the idea behind making this comm was giving people who aren't fond of the 'Traditional' pairings (ShinRan, KaiAoko, Heiji/Kazuha) a place to hang out, what about turning this into an Adult Alternative comm? MC1T does accept NC-17 fic, it's just that no one seems to be posting it. Most DCMK het lemons that I've seen have been here, either for the kinkmemes, or as like in Saitaina's case, a fic that has both yaoi and het lemons in it.

I definitely agree with the 'yaoi/yuri =/= necessarily lemon', but unfortunately there does seem to be a double standard in fandom about it. A guy and a girl kisses, no one panics. Two girls or two guys kiss and there must be warnings. The feeling has been changing over the past several years, for which I'm grateful.

*chuckles* In any event, I wouldn't worry about your f-list being flooded with fic, it seems like a lot of people have been fading out of the fandom lately. Kinda hoping that since there isn't a real big gulf the het and yaoi fans in the DCMK fandom, that making this comm more het friendly, we can get more people active again.

No, that's not quite it. I'll admit that I'm not that fond of the mainstay pairings, but I didn't intend to make this part of my argument. I was more thinking that het fans of whatever pairings who are new to the fandom/lj and who don't know that dc_yaoi isn't in fact all about yaoi anymore probably won't go near this comm because they'd expect only yaoi. Hence my first point about the name issue. And while I'm not that much a fan of the traditional het pairings but would join an obscure pairing comm including het pairings faster than you can refresh that comm's profile page, I was thinking that there might be other members who are all for the yaoi. Which is why I suggested a poll, to help all the shy lurkers to delurk.:)

Then again, if MC1T does accept NC-17 but no one ever posts some... how about you help reminding people about that acceptance over there? I haven't been much around lately and only noticed the kink memes en passant, but you encouraged het as well, so logically, people were writing het in a yaoi/yuri comm. How about you start a NC-17 challenge on MC1T then for a change? It doesn't necessarily have to be another kink meme as not everybody is fond of kinks or the image they imply, but maybe it can help to decrease the shyness MC1T's authors seem to have when it comes to posting adult stuff?

Yeah, I noticed that most friends I have in that fandom seem quite disappointed by canon lately, like I have been until about a year ago when I entirely dropped canon and kept nourishing my little fanon world instead. I still like the fandom (my first "real" fandom ever) and it would hurt me to watch it die even though I'm not really active anymore.
On the other hand, I understand your point to bring yaoi/yuri and het fans together, but it feels a tad weird to me to make a yaoi community more het-friendly when we're talking about a fandom that is clearly het-dominated and where there is barely any yaoi at all compared to het-fics. (Or has this changed in the meanwhile? I might not be exactly up-to-date I admit...)
Don't get me wrong, I think that a common comm for adult stuff is a good idea, but abolishing one of the few places where you don't have to dig through hundreds of fics with the childhood pairings to find some rare yaoi or yuri...?:-\

What happens to those of us who write the holy three of yaoi pairings then? While not as high as their het counter parts, they do comprise quite a bit of the stories. I wold give figures here, but I'm half asleep.

I agree with bf_nightingale one hundred percent, for mostly the same reasons. (And maybe my opinion doesn't count for much because I'm relatively new here and have been too shy to post fic yet, but too bad. You're getting it anyway.)

I freely admit that I'm here for the yaoi. I had very little luck finding yaoi fic at all, let alone good yaoi fic, before I found this com. I don't want to see that swamped by the same het pairings that I have absolutely no difficulty finding elsewhere. (I have a few rarer het pairings that I would love to see more of, but I am under no illusions that they would be the ones suddenly appearing.)

Also, if this became a general adult com, would that mean suddenly only adult yaoi and yuri fics are allowed? That is what really worries me the most. I enjoy reading adult fics, but writing them is just not my forte. Would the com suddenly be off limits to posts of fluff, light romance, UST, and even not-explicit-just-implied sex? I can't even articulate how sad that would make me.

Also, I noticed one of the commenters above said that this would make it easier for people with fics that have het pairings as well as yaoi. But wouldn't it be okay to post chapters of a fic that had an overall yaoi or yuri pairing, even if you have to add a note of "no yaoi in this chapter" or something like that? That said, I think a new com for adult fics including yaoi, yuri, and het is a great idea. I would probably join and read along, even if I don't have anything naughty enough to post.

I contacted Icka about that especially, considering a major chapter of one of my fics is not archived here for the very reason it contains an R rated het scene, she told me it was allowed (specifically in my case, so I'm not sure if this is comm wide or not), so that is a point that needs further clarification. ...I just wrote in a circle didn't I?

I just mentioned the story incident as I know I felt very uncomfortable posting that scene to a yaoi comm, I didn't want to offend any readers.

I don't know about dc_yaoi, but most yaoi/yuri communities in general (or at least those I know) go by the rule that as long as the main pairing is yaoi/yuri, het is fine too. So I don't think anyone should feel that heavily offended by a single chapter with zomg teh het sex, and in case they do, those should hopefully be able to ignore it (or I don't know how they'd survive the legendary real world otherwise).[/two yen]
